Strata's Eastover Farm generates 9,600 MWh of electricity every year. This utility-scale project generates clean electricity in Scotland County equivalent to the power used by more than 750 homes and has an operating life of over 30 years.
Construction took 14 weeks, beginning in May 2014 and finishing in August 2014. Eastover Farm is part of Strata Solar’s Southeastern cluster of solar farms and was built by a crew of over 80 local contractors.
This project provided over $250,000 in direct expenditures in Scotland County for wages, lodging and supplies and an increase in the property tax base of Scotland County of approximately $12 million with no requirement for other county services.
There are no emissions, noise or traffic associated with the operation of this solar farm. Each year, the solar farm will offset approximately 5,155 tons of CO2, which is the same as reducing automobile travel by 8 million miles.
